OLDER FEMINISTS' NETWORK

Our OFN banner accompanies us on demonstrations. It shows our support for women's issues, peace movements, anti-racism and the environment.

History

The OFN was formed in 1982 and has met regularly ever since in order to give voice to the the concerns of older women which we felt were being ignored in feminist circles and in society generally.

Aims

  • To counter the negative stereotypes of older women in society.
  • To challenge the combined ageism/sexism which older women suffer.
  • To provide contacts, mutual support and exchange of ideas and information.
  • To mobilise the skills and experience of older women in campaigning for a better deal.

Activities

  • We meet monthly in Central London with speakers, workshops and shared lunch and we have a winter party. Our bi-monthly Newsletter goes out to older women throughout the UK, Europe, North America and even Japan. We are linked to the organisations listed below.
